SAVING WEIGHT – September 14, 2018
One of the things we like best is to find ways to save weight. It really makes our day! In this case, electrical engineer Ryan Dillon found small DC motors and gear reductions that allowed us to save nearly three pounds over our earlier motor.
These motors rotate the tail up and down while changing from flight to drive mode. We are not only saving weight but increasing the power and adding redundancy as well. Above, Sam Bousfield (left) and Ryan Dillon are comparing the motors and discussing the benefits of the change. You can tell from our smiles that the news is good!
