Samson Sky was founded by Sam Bousfield. An architect by training, Sam often explains that an architect is a professional problem solver who is part engineer, part artist. What you design has to be both functional and aesthetic. Later in his successful architecture career, Sam began inventing, using his problem solving skills in the arena of his primary passion: aviation.
The first area he tackled concerned the modern transportation problem of inefficient regional travel. 21 million business and leisure travelers in the US complete 193 million regional (250 to 500 miles) trips each year, at a cost of $95 billon in lost time for the business travelers. More than half of those trips are by car (10 hours one way) because regional airline service is nearly as time consuming as driving, or the area doesn’t have commercial airline service.
A Switchblade® flying sports car makes the same regional trip in under 3.5 hours and your bags never leave your side. In a Switchblade, you have the same flexibility as the driving trip, except that you can choose whether to drive or fly yourself, or a combination of the two.
Morgan Stanley recently projected the market share for our type of vehicle as being $460B, between now and 2040. In their Urban Mobility Update of May 6, 2021, they presented the research supporting this projection. A copy of the report is included in Samson’s documentation provided to potential investors.
From the start, Samson’s strategy incorporated the 5,087 public use airports in the US, all of which are available for Switchblade operations today. According to a recent NASA Report regarding Regional Air Mobility, this extremely valuable asset of public use airports is greatly underutilized. They conclude that the next major shift in transportation will be through the expanded utilization of these airports using advanced Regional Air Mobility vehicles.
Samson Sky’s position of being the world’s most popular flying car should allow us to seamlessly connect regional transportation needs in the US and the world. Our solution will provide a level of practicality and excitement not available anywhere else.
