THE RADIATOR CAP DEBATE – MAY 12, 2019
It may sound silly, but the placement of the radiator cap is an important feature. If you put it in the wrong location, you can trap air bubbles in the system, and that could lead to engine trouble during use. The Switchblade has two radiators, which helps in most situations, but complicates the choice of radiator cap location. In the image above, Sean Bliss (left) and Sam Bousfield are going over the possible locations, and finally decided that the cap had to go on one of the radiators (rather than be at a remote location as planned).
We re-purposed the existing remote radiator cap, cut it to shape, and had it welded to the top of one of the radiators. In the future, we will order the radiators with caps on them in the right locations.
