TAIL ROTATION MECHANISM – January 10, 2019
Parts of this tail rotation mechanism have been shown in engineering program screenshots earlier, but the image above shows the actual workings and the entire mechanism. The grey tube shape is the transmission, and there is a small electric motor on one end. The other end is connected to a gold colored housing and turns a small worm gear that spins the housing on large bearings to rotate the tail. It’s difficult to describe without pointing the components out individually, but we hope you get the idea. There was an old sales slogan – ‘Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking’. That is what we expect of the tail.
