WEIGHT, THE FINAL FRONTIER – February 18, 2020
As mentioned in the previous post, we weighed the Switchblade major assemblies to get an idea of the overall weight and balance. The outcome was pretty good. We are slightly higher than our target for this phase, but well within the parameters for good flight testing. You don’t want to test at maximum gross weight, nor at minimum weight.
With full fuel, pilot, parachute, and extra test equipment on board, we are above middle weight and below max gross. We have a lot of extra weight in instrumentation and test equipment that we won’t have in production. We will lose more weight when we optimize the ‘off-the-shelf’ parts with final Switchblade parts.
