PROTOTYPE LOSING MORE WEIGHT (BEFORE & AFTER SHOTS) – April 22, 2020

As most of you know, in the aviation world weight is king. Prototypes are always heavier that production models. So when we lose more weight, there are some big smiles here at Samson.

Last week we announced that by removing some wiring and consolidating the electrical system in the cockpit, we had saved 5.4 pounds. Sean Bliss has completed this project now, taking out an additional 5 lbs. for a total weight loss of 10.4 lbs. The top photo shows the back wall inside the cockpit, with the starting contactors for Bus A and Bus B and the alternator contractor. The bottom photo shows what that looks like now, without those. Each of these giant relays weighed in at just under 1 lb.
