The Samson team has been very busy flight testing on a longer runway out of the area. A longer runway gives you the opportunity to take short hops, which may not be feasible on a shorter runway. This testing was very productive. Here you can see Test Pilot Ron McElroy before a test run (pilot door not yet put on) as he’s talking with Test Chief Sam Bousfield. Engineer David Nobles is adjusting the GoPro camera that is set up to record the airflow over the wing. We have yarn tufts on the wing so that we can see how the air is flowing based on how the tufts move during test runs.
