As we showed earlier, we are using a piano hinge as a means to join two halves of the curved duct carbon fiber form. In this case, the ‘hinge’ acts as joiner only, and you pull the hinge central wire pin to allow the pieces to separate. Here one of our Composites Team is replacing the ‘quills’ with rivets using a clamp rivet tool. One by one the rivets take over from the quilts (clecos) as he works around the curve.
