We are moving parts of the rear bulkhead around to clear the new exhaust pipe routing that the new engine requires. Carbon is sensitive to heat, so we have to give heat sources enough room to make sure the carbon doesn’t get soft and fail due to heat. You can see in the image above where new panels have been introduced and bonded in place with blue hysol aircraft adhesive, and where we have one area left to repair after being trimmed.
This step goes pretty quickly, but after the cutting and repair of panels, we have to go over the joints with some new layers of carbon to make the bulkhead structurally sound.
