As explained in the last post, we are testing with little shark fin shaped Vortex Generators on the wings. The testing is done with different flap settings and then the video footage is analyzed to determine differences in performance.
Before heading out, Engineer David Nobles adjusted and started the GoPro cameras pointed down at the wings, Test Pilot Ron McElroy (available just for the afternoon) warmed up the engine and we headed out to our Prineville runway to do some acceleration runs. Dana Beebe was in the chase vehicle off the taxiway and you can see him here in the process of checking both wings to verify flap settings and make sure the VGs are staying in place. After each check, Ron taxied back to the runway for another acceleration run.
