Samson Sky, the visionary creator of the Switchblade flying sports car, has officially launched a crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder. This move comes hot on the heels of their successful test flight of the Switchblade on November 5, 2023, and aims to propel the company into the production phase of this groundbreaking high-performance vehicle.

According to Samson Sky Board Member James Mauch, the crowdfunding initiative is a means to gather substantial funds and a unique opportunity for smaller investors to be part of cutting-edge technology. “Crowdfunding is commonly used as an early step, but it allows many smaller investors the same opportunity as bigger investors have with new technology in early companies,” said Samson Sky.

Announcing the launch, Samson Sky CEO and the designer of the Switchblade, Bousfield, said that investing in their venture would offer threefold benefits: the chance for financial rewards, the inclusion of something both cutting edge and eco-friendly and helping usher in the future of transportation.

Revolutionizing eco-friendly transportation

Samson Sky says that the Switchblade is not just a flying car; it’s a carefully crafted blend of elegance, speed, and environmental consciousness. Unlike other emerging companies aiming to transform personal air mobility, the Switchblade cannot take off vertically and needs a runway to take to the skies, necessitating planning trips around airports.

The Switchblade uses unleaded auto fuel instead of leaded aviation fuel and boasts a hybrid electric transmission, non-toxic carbon parts production, and full recyclability.

A sleek and sexy design allows the Switchblade to perform like a sports car on the road while transforming into a high-performance plane in under three minutes. However, the company has yet to showcase the Switchblade to make this transformation by itself. A unique three-wheel, street-legal design ensures the Switchblade is easily maneuverable.

The Switchblade has not only captured the imagination of enthusiasts around the globe but has gained actual traction. With over 2300 reservations from 57 countries and all 50 U.S. states, the company says there is tangible demand for this flying sports car.

Despite an eye-watering $170,000 price tag, Samson Sky has already raised an impressive $10 million before the crowdfunding campaign, with orders amounting to $472 million and steadily growing.

Samson Sky has implemented a global patent strategy to protect its innovative creation from imitators, securing multiple patents across various countries. This strategic move aims to inhibit potential copycats and establish the Switchblade as a pioneering force in personal transportation.

Samson Sky envisions a future where the Switchblade becomes common in garages across the U.S. and overseas. Switchblade customers zoom to the nearby airport at about 125 mph (200 km/h) and then take off, reaching up to 200 mph (322 km/h) up to 13,000 feet high.

On touching down at the airport closest to your destination, the Switchblade can fold and stow its wings and tail and then drive to your destination. Samson Sky will scale up production with the proceeds of the crowdfunding campaign, fulfilling the growing number of reservations.
