The work to close the gap between the duct and the propeller tips aided our recent taxi testing. You can see the prop tip gap in the image below. (We took it down from 1/2″ to 3/16″.) We also cleaned up the drag around the radiator and intercooler intakes, and added more turbo boost. Between all of the actions taken, we were able to test with good acceleration which was continuing through to the end of the runway and top speed of 88 mph. This was important, as this told us we will continue to be able to accelerate beyond that speed after we take off. We will also lose the drag of the tires on the runway at that point, and it is normal for an aircraft to accelerate even more after take-off just due to that alone.
