PHASE ONE TAIL RUDDER TESTING – PASSED! – October 1, 2019
We’re proud to announce that yesterday we passed the first phase of fly-by-wire rudder testing on the Switchblade prototype tail! The custom fixture holds the VT tail in position, with bungie cords being pulled to simulate resistance. These tests were carefully designed by the engineering team.
Larry Hinman did the majority of the endurance testing, keeping logs of the number of cycles, temperatures, and the results from each section of testing. The rudders were moved for more than 5,600 cycles over a five-hour period.
