RON BURCH CHECKING ON FUEL TANK CLEARANCE – MAY 5, 2019
Ron was one of several who worked on locating and fitting the aluminum fuel tanks into the Switchblade. Aluminum was chosen as it can be fabricated easily for one-off prototype parts but would be fairly heavy for production vehicles. Ron is shown above checking if the modifications we made to the tank gave us the clearance to the carbon fiber panels on either side. We couldn’t have the tanks rubbing on the carbon, or eventually the tanks would grind a hole through even that tough material.
