FUEL TANKS FINISHED – March 18, 2019
All the fuel tank fittings were installed, and the baffles were placed inside the tanks before they were sealed up, ready for placement in the Switchblade. Owner Frank Hendricks, a mechanic among other talents, helped us with this task. This was a packing job, as the balls should not be rattling around inside, but the tanks are very unusually shaped to get the most fuel inside. We went with the balls rather than baffle plates, due to the oddball shape of the tank. The role of the balls is to slow down movement of fuel in the tank so the fuel in the tank isn’t sloshing noisily as you drive or fly.
