FUEL PUMP TANK TAKES SHAPE – January 6, 2021
The new engine operates with in-tank fuel pumps, so to make sure we use the fuel pumps and pressure regulators that were built for this engine, we opted to build a new small fuel tank called a header tank. It is big enough to house the fuel pump, pressure regulator, filters, and fuel of course.
The main fuel tank has a back-up fuel pump inside it as well as the gas gauge sender unit. If we run the main tank down to zero on the gauge, we would still have a little bit of gas left in the header tank, as the main tank drains down to the header tank to keep the header tank full of fuel until all fuel is gone. The header tank is 8″ tall and about 5-1/2″ in diameter.
