TESTING BEGINS ON NEW SWITCHBLADE ENGINE – February 9, 2021
The 3-cylinder engine was started and run from idle speeds up to 3,000 rpm recently to check whether we had successfully handled unwanted engine computer control functions. For anything that flies, it seems more appropriate to leave the decisions in the hands of the pilot rather than have a computer shut down the engine automatically when certain sensors go out of normal range. It might be a sensor problem and not an engine problem, which a pilot would be able to spot and ignore. Notice how smoothly the engine is running!
