CHECKING V4 AT HIGH RPM – September 24, 2020
After passing through the break-in period for the supercharger and engine, we set out to run the engine at higher and higher rpm to ensure that the engine was going to perform correctly. This is a new setup, so we took things slowly, checking everything we could, to ensure the best possible outcome.
In this image, Phillip Mikula (right) and Sam Bousfield are manning hand-held temperature sensors, checking temperatures of different sections of the assembly, while Sean Bliss (not visible) mans the engine gauges and throttle in the cockpit. If this passes, we will advance to bolting on the propeller, and running the engine under that load.
