REFLECT THAT HEAT – August 10, 2020

We seemed to be picking up heat in the fuel injectors, which are very close to the turbocharger on one side of the V4 engine. To combat that, we fashioned an aluminum heat shield, and coated it with reflective gold tape for better heat rejection. This was successfully used in a nearby location in the Switchblade engine bay, to protect the major electrical cables for the engine. We are adding this additional shield to protect the electric fuel injectors.

Mechanical Engineer and Switchblade Owner Paul Carrette is doing the design and fabrication for us. The next step is to cover the inside of the aluminum shield with a specialty heat shield fabric. (Paul is holding a piece of this in the top photo.)
