How did Switchblade Reservation Slot #295 come to have my name emblazoned on the registry?
In a few words, I got lucky. It just so happens I have an amazing friend with a personal passion for bringing the future into existence. I’m talking about Sam Bousfield, a tenacious soul with the innate aptitude to recognize that all of the technology needed to create his own life-long dream of a practical flying car, did finally exist. An architect by trade, Sam designed a vehicle which promises to fit perfectly into an active lifestyle like mine (and so many other’s I’m sure).
Beyond that, the real clincher is that I truly believe that the Switchblade will actually get off the ground and fly well. That analysis based again on Sam and his talented team, and the progress and path Samson has taken so far. While a genius in his own right, Sam is humble enough to seek out new ideas and solutions, and has assembled a team of experts to help him. As the inventor of the Switchblade and Samson’s CEO, he is persistent enough to carry a big project like this one through to its end.
Not every version of a flying car has appeal to me. I also don’t think very many (even if they fly) will be a success. To succeed, a product absolutely must have purpose – it has to fill real needs that people have. Proof exists: Do you know that the very first car to make it into the air did so more than 60 years ago? True, but you won’t find more than a handful of “museum bound” examples of Molt Taylor’s Aerocar today. It missed the “practical” mark by not being useful.
Movies and books forever remind us of the future ahead, with hovering cars that adeptly land and go wherever they choose. I’m sure all of us see this as the ultimate goal, but until the technology for anti-gravity engines in fact arrives, any annals of that “ideal” mode of transportation will only be found in the works of sci-fi writers. (Very real and certainly not sci-fi, the above photo is a blast from the past. My wife and I are sitting in the original mock-up built to study ergonomics, visibility and cabin space, which was a pre-cursor to the carbon fiber prototype.)

I am planning on regular non-stop flights to visit kids and friends in southern California; one-stop flights up to Oregon to visit family; romantic evenings and weekend getaways over to the coast with my wife; and plenty of daytime trips with friends to golf, fish or have fun in areas that are just out of “practical” reach at the moment. I can’t wait to get my Switchblade! If you have a practical, but adventurous soul like I do, I suggest that you consider the Switchblade Reservation Program that Samson is offering.
