To move more weight forward, we created a special fuel tank that we could locate forward of the pilot. By making the fuel tank heavy but small, we are able to operate the vehicle with full or partial fuel without changing the balance of the aircraft enough to be troublesome. The smaller tank limits our range for the flying prototype, but for this portion of the testing that is fine. Here Samson Engineer David Nobles is making the final touches to the top cover plate for the tank in preparation for mounting the tank in the vehicle.
