With veteran test pilot Ron McElroy at the controls, the Switchblade flying sports car took to a local runway yesterday to do the next step in our flight test program. We built up speed with each consecutive test, and also tested different settings of the wing flaps to determine where we got the best performance.
As the testing progressed, we saw the vehicle get lighter and lighter on the suspension. At the end of the day, we got this (our fastest) run. You can see the vehicle with suspension at full extension, meaning the vehicle is raising itself up and almost ready to fly. The test pilot concurred.
We will resume shortly to test power and propeller changes (changing the pitch of the prop blades) to see if we can do this locally, or we need to go to an airport out of the area to finish flight testing on a much longer runway.
