While the upgraded body design went through the wind tunnel, which validated the aerodynamics of this new shape and propulsion system, there was always going to be room for styling the exterior to reflect the amazing performance of the vehicle.

We released the new enhanced body design of the Switchblade at AirVenture in late July, which drew an overwhelming number of incredible reviews and positive comments. We were told we won the unofficial “Brown Grass Award” for the amount of trampled grass around our displays.
We have been working on production engineering for the Switchblade and were tweaking the design to get the improvements needed for production vehicles.
This stunning flow visibility technique allows us to catch the flow of air separation in low pressure areas. We’re looking for ‘separation’ which wouldn’t occur in a high pressure area like the forward portion of the nose.
We mentioned last newsletter that the Switchblade body had an even more streamlined and sleek shape. But what does the improved Switchblade look like?
As was mentioned in the last newsletter, the Switchblade flew last November and flew very well! The overall aerodynamics, flying qualities, slow speed handling, take off characteristics, landing ease, and more were just what we had hoped for.
