We’re Kicking Off 2024 With Exciting Production Plans And a Crowdfunding Campaign!

How are we going to produce this many Switchblades? Switchblade Builder Assist Robot Arm Machine

One of our biggest problems is our need to produce so many vehicles. If this were like any other kit aircraft, and we only needed to produce kits sufficient for maybe 300 per year, things would be different. That is not what we have, however. Our market is much larger than that, and the demand is much higher. So much higher, that we took over four years to work out how to not only make carbon parts faster, but also at nearly half the cost. This larger volume of sales also gives us amazing opportunities to make the Switchblade even greater than anticipated.

This new material is called Thermoplastic Carbon Fiber, and you can read about it HERE, although it is a bit technical. The material gives off no toxic fumes during manufacturing (important for our staff and the people in the neighborhood around our facilities), is fully recyclable, and reduces waste to almost zero. Very environmentally friendly, don’t you think? It fits in with our goal to provide new, exciting forms of transportation to allow people to get around faster but with less impact on the environment.

During this time that we have been perfecting and testing the initial prototype, we have also worked out how to make the molds required for carbon fiber parts so that they would be cheaper and faster as well. The trick was to find the right material and process to allow us to make thermoplastic carbon fiber parts without using the insanely expensive exotic metals that Boeing and others have resorted to for their molds. We have found those types of materials, and they are just now being introduced for use. Lucky timing for us, once again!

In our case, we are combining some of the best manufacturing materials and processes used by Boeing and Airbus, with cutting edge molding techniques just coming out now. As we roll this out, it should set a new benchmark for composite parts production. We may even establish a separate company to produce parts for our vehicles, as well as other company’s parts for an added revenue stream.

A heads up on what is to come

The route of Production Engineering will certainly have highlights along the way, but there are thousands of decisions to make, enormous engineering to accomplish, and huge amounts of testing to be done. While it may not keep you as much on the edge of your seat like flight testing did, it will be exciting!

We will have some amazing announcements coming over the next months – with news you will really want to hear! Keep track of things, and we would like to hear what you think of our new upgraded engineering capabilities. We have been working the problem of how to perfect the flying car for first flight in a step-by-step process. We are now entering a world of parallel development required to quickly get into production, which is an entirely new route.

We will also have contests along the way with chances to win Switchblade gear and other things we have yet to announce!  We will keep you posted on improvements we are making as we go along. Many of you will be very interested to hear that it looks like we be able to raise our Useful Load to a higher range. Stay tuned!

Did you hear that we launched a crowdfunding campaign?

The first part of our fundraising campaign to get the Switchblade into production, after announcing our first flight, is called crowdfunding. Crowdfunding is commonly used as an early step in an overall campaign to raise large funds. However, it has the unique ability to allow many smaller investors the same opportunity as bigger investors have in early companies with new technology.

Your investment does three things: it offers the chance for financial rewards; includes you in part of something eco-friendly and cutting edge; and helps usher in the future of transportation. Almost anyone can participate. And we have Switchblade gear, perks, and special experiences as rewards for various levels of investment!
