TRANSMISSION INSPECTION AND REBUILD – May 26, 2020
We mentioned earlier that the Switchblade’s transmission has passed its endurance test, and that we were taking it apart to review the transmission, and then rebuild it for flight testing. The gears were in perfect condition, and all but two bearings were also in perfect shape. There were clips on two bearings that were not strong enough, and caused a bearing failure. The replacements for those clips arrived, and Samson engineer, David Nobles, is shown in this image working on the final inspection and rebuild of the transmission.
