NEW PINS FOR STRONGER WING – December 3, 2018
The image above shows two of the new steel pins that were designed as part of a stronger wing assembly we are preparing for testing, before we fly with them. The pins are located in the hinge beam assembly and the two hinge beams can fold because of these pins. The pins are machined down to size, trimmed, and hollowed out. The core will be filled with grease to lubricate the hinges.
We are looking to get a 100-pound weight increase from the wings in the future, which should equate to an increase in useful load beyond the 544 pounds we currently anticipate. Payload or useful load is people + baggage + fuel.
