PROP SHAFT TAKES SHAPE – April 7, 2021
The first of two shafts we just received was mated up to other parts and made into a sub-assembly ready to be installed in the vehicle. You can see what this looks like in this image. The large gear-like part on the right side is a dog clutch, which is a way of connecting or disconnecting drive shafts from a power source. They are commonly used in older 4WD vehicles for the front hubs. The dog clutch is spring loaded so that if it failed, it would fail connected for use.
